The Islamabad market
Islamabad is less about manufacturing and more about services. Private schools and colleges, hospitals and diagnostic labs, IT houses and consultancy firms make up a large share of what residents actually pay for.
Two things shape how you buy here. First, service businesses are hard to compare on price alone, so the deciding factor is usually the experience other people had — waiting times, how complaints were handled, whether the final bill matched the quote. Second, online payments are more widely accepted than in most Pakistani cities, which makes refund policies much more important.

What to check before you buy in Islamabad

Get the scope and the quote in writing
For IT, consultancy and interior work, ask for a written scope with milestones. Most disputes start when “extra work” appears at the end of a project with no agreed rate.
Ask about the person, not just the brand
In clinics and consultancy firms, the individual handling your case matters more than the signboard. Look for reviews that mention a department or a type of work rather than the company as a whole.
Confirm exactly what a fee covers
Private education and healthcare here often carry several separate charges. Ask for the full list — admission, exam, lab, follow-up — before committing to anything.
Check the refund route for online payments
If you pay by card or wallet, ask how a refund is processed and how long it takes. A business that cannot describe its refund process will usually delay it.
