Sialkot is one of Pakistan’s most export-focused cities. Sports goods, surgical instruments, leather products and textile manufacturing are all based here, and much of the output goes overseas.
That export orientation shapes the local market. Many businesses are set up for trade and bulk orders rather than walk-in retail, and quality standards vary between units that serve international buyers and those that serve the local market.
For individual buyers, the advantage is direct access to manufacturers, who often sell locally for less than showroom retailers elsewhere. The catch is that consumer protections are less standardised at the factory gate.
